Terms & Conditions

Last updated: April 2025. Please read these terms carefully before placing an order.

1. About Us

UK Deed Poll is a document preparation service providing deed poll documents to customers in England and Wales. We are not a law firm, solicitor, or government agency. Our function is purely as a document provider for the self-declaration of unenrolled deed polls.

2. Our Services

We provide the following services:

We are a document preparation service only. We do not provide legal advice. If you require legal advice, you should consult a qualified solicitor.

3. Ordering

By placing an order with us, you confirm that:

4. Prices and Payment

All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.

The following prices apply at the time of publication:

We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. Prices displayed at the time of your order are binding.

5. Delivery

We deliver exclusively to UK addresses by Royal Mail Tracked 24. Estimated delivery times are 1–2 business days (Expedited) or 2–4 business days (Standard) from the date of dispatch. These are estimates only and we cannot guarantee delivery times, as these are subject to Royal Mail's service performance.

We are not responsible for delays caused by Royal Mail or circumstances outside our control. If your deed poll has not arrived within 7 business days of dispatch, please contact us and we will investigate.

6. Digital Products

The Name Change Kit and Instant Digital Download are delivered by email following payment confirmation. Digital products are non-refundable once delivered.

7. Accuracy of Information

You are solely responsible for ensuring that all names, addresses, and other information submitted in your application are accurate. We will prepare your deed poll exactly as submitted. We are not responsible for errors in your deed poll that result from inaccurate information provided by you.

If you notice an error in your submitted information before your deed poll has been dispatched, please contact us immediately. We will attempt to correct errors where possible but cannot guarantee this if production has already begun.

8. Your Right to Cancel — Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days of placing your order without giving a reason.

However, by placing an order you expressly request that we begin production immediately, and you acknowledge that your right to cancel is lost once production of your personalised deed poll document has commenced. Deed poll documents are bespoke items prepared specifically to your name and details; they fall within the exemption at Regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations (goods made to the consumer's specification or clearly personalised).

If you wish to cancel before production has commenced, please contact us immediately. We will process a full refund where your order has not yet entered production.

Digital products (Name Change Kit, Instant Digital Download) are also exempt from the right to cancel once you have received the digital content and have expressly consented to delivery beginning immediately, pursuant to Regulation 28(1)(b) and 36 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

9. Defective or Incorrect Documents

If your deed poll is defective due to an error on our part (for example, a spelling error we introduced, not an error in the information you submitted), we will reprint and redeliver at no charge. Please contact us within 30 days of receiving your order.

10. Membership

UK Deed Poll Membership is a monthly subscription at £4.99/month. Your subscription will automatically renew each month unless cancelled. You may cancel your membership at any time by contacting us at the members email address provided in your welcome email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

Membership benefits include free deed poll replacement copies (subject to fair use), access to our UK legal document library, and permanent Digi-Poll™ Archive. We reserve the right to modify membership benefits with 30 days' notice.

11. Legal Validity

An unenrolled deed poll prepared by UK Deed Poll uses the legally recognised wording published by HM Government. However, we make no guarantee that any specific organisation will accept your deed poll. Most major UK organisations accept unenrolled deed polls, but some organisations have their own requirements. We recommend checking directly with the relevant organisation if you are unsure.

Your deed poll must be signed and witnessed correctly to be legally valid. We provide signing instructions with every order. We are not responsible for deed polls that are rejected due to improper signing or witnessing.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with your order shall not exceed the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including but not limited to loss of earnings, loss of opportunity, or costs incurred in connection with updating your name with third-party organisations.

13. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, design, and branding, is the property of UK Deed Poll and may not be reproduced without our written permission. The deed poll wording is published by HM Government under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

14. Privacy

Your use of this website is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.

15. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

16. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. The terms applicable to your order are those in force at the time you place your order. We will publish any material changes on this page.
